There are symbols we come to trust and depend on seeing.
Sigils we learn that tell a story of their own
so each one may be a warning or a lesson,
something greater than the sum of its parts.

Where would we be if we turned a hazard sign to point to safety?

The Egyptians may have been onto something,
a symbol is not misconstrued
for having a different meaning
unless explicitly noted
-with words we pack a whole separate punch
depending on the tone or inflection
set deeply in the intent of a voice,
the gritting of teeth
and the silkly smoothness of a smile.
